This is probably the question most often asked by driving licence candidates in Tunisia: do you really have to sit in a classroom to learn the road rules, or can you revise from your phone?
Here is a clear answer, covering what the regulations say, what is possible today, and what is not.
The short answer
Yes, you can learn and revise the road rules entirely online. No rule obliges you to revise in a classroom. Questions, course sheets and mock tests can all be worked through from a phone, a tablet or a computer, at whatever time suits you.
No, you cannot take the test online, nor can you register without a driving school. The theory test takes place in an approved test centre, on a computer, under ATTT supervision.
💡In other words: preparation is going digital, the test is not.

What Tunisian regulations actually say
Many candidates still hear about the "independent candidate" and think they can submit their file on their own after revising on the internet. That information is no longer up to date.
Since 1 September 2025, in application of article 23 of government decree no. 510 of 18 June 2021, the ATTT requires every application to register for the theory test to include a copy of the training contract: signed by the candidate, signed and stamped by the driving school. Any incomplete file is rejected — both for a first registration and for re-registration after a failure.
⚠️An approved driving school remains a compulsory step, but nothing prevents you from preparing for the driving theory online. The two are not in opposition: a platform gets you there better prepared, with fewer classroom theory hours to pay for.
That is the Drivago model: more than 600 approved partner driving schools across the 24 governorates. You can sign up even if you are already committed to a driving school.

What online revision really changes
- You revise when you are available: twenty minutes on the bus in the morning, twenty in the evening. No imposed time slot, no travel.
- You repeat as much as necessary: in a classroom, a question set is covered once; online, you can redo the topic you struggle with ten times.
- You know where you stand: topic-by-topic tracking reveals your real weaknesses, not the ones you think you have.
- You practise in real conditions: Drivago mock tests reproduce the official format (30 questions, pass mark at 24/30). On the day, the pace is no longer a surprise.
💡One last point that is often overlooked: revise in the language of your test. Practising in French and sitting the test in Arabic adds a vocabulary difficulty you do not need.
In person or online: the real calculation
In-person driving theory sessions are generally charged at around 15 TND per session. Three sessions and you have already exceeded the price of full online access, not counting transport.
|
| 7 days | 19 TND | 1 200+ questions, mock tests, course sheets, detailed answer explanations, tracking |
| 30 days | 25 TND | Same + detailed progress tracking |
| 90 days | 38 TND | Same + smart reminders |
One driving hour: 25 to 33 TND · Practical driving test: 200 TND · Manoeuvring test: 200 TND
Every failure has to be paid for again in full. Saving on driving theory preparation only to sit the test twice has never lowered anyone's bill. On average, our candidates feel ready after 3 to 4 weeks, at 20 to 30 minutes a day.
